I had a wonderful weekend! I made it to Kansas City around 11:30 on Saturday and thankfully no problems finding where I needed to go. My friend, Susan, and her precious baby girl picked me up from the airport. We had a little issue getting out of the airport because Susan lost the ticket to get out of the parking lot and we had to argue with the lady at the gate to let us out! We finally made it out and our weekend could finally begin. We talked, we laughed, we cried, we went down college memory lane, watched some Downton Abbey, and did some shopping. That sounds like an awesome weekend to me!  It was nice to snuggle with a baby and talk about what my kids were like when they were babies. The weekend went by way too fast and although I was ready to see my own family, it was so sad to leave such a wonderful friend. It makes me sad that we cannot enjoy each others friendship on a regular basis:( My plane landed safely around 8:30 last night and I had the rude awakening of -8 degrees! I h...

We have had a pretty good week. The week has actually flown by quite fast. I have been feeling much better than last week and I was connected with a lady at our school that also has fibromyalgia and I was able to get the information from her about the doctor she sees and gets treatment from. This is a huge blessing because, well, I have not been to the doctor about my fibro since we moved here. I ran out of one of my meds about 3 months ago and I am hoping to find a doctor that will be able to help me manage my pain more. I also want to thank everyone that prayed about my sleeping situation. I have slept great this past week. I have not heard our landlord and have not been woken up in the middle of the night at all this week :). The kids have had a great week at school and we are all ready to enjoy a three-day weekend! I actually get to have the awesome opportunity to go to Kansas City to  see one of my dearest friends, Susan, and meet her sweet baby girl who was born in September! Jer...

Wednesday, January 16, 2013- Happy Birthday Grandma! Miss you every day.

I always thought it was so cool that my birthday was so close to my Grandma. So two days after I celebrate my 35th birthday I celebrate the life of one of my heroes that left this world way too soon. My Grandma was such a big part in my life growing up, even though she lived 8 hours away from us. Her and my Pawpaw were always with us for special occasions and took many trips with us growing up. They braved Washington D.C. and Disney World with us and memories were made and I am forever grateful. My Grandma was a nurse in the delivery room in a Detroit hospital. She was in the delivery room with my brother, sister, and several of my older cousins. She would stay in the delivery room right up to the moment the baby would be born because she was afraid to be in the room if something was wrong with the baby. She witnessed the heartbreak on one of her grandchildren being born as a stillborn. My Grandma was the one that stayed up with me my very first night home from the hospital. I guess I ...

This morning my reading in  Jesus Today  by Sarah Young was so good that I have decided to post the whole devotion/reading for today. " Trust Me here and now. You are in rigorous training--- on an adventure trail designed for you alone. This path is not of your choosing, but it is MY way for you. I am doing things you can't understand. That is why I say, "Trust Me!" The jungle is thick, and you cannot clearly see what is before you, behind you, or beside you. Cling to My hand as you follow this trail in shadowy darkness. Although you cannot see Me, My Presence is rock-solid reality. Find hope in Me, beloved, for I am taking care of you. Focus on enjoying Me and all that I am to you -- even though your circumstances scream for resolution. Refuse to obsess about your problems and how you are going to fix them. Instead, affirm your trust in Me; wait hopefully in My Presence, and watch to see what I will do." Isn't that so good? I know I have mentioned this befo...

" “Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations— that’s what I had in mind for you.” Jeremiah 1:5 I have had a wonderful day. I slept pretty good last night so I woke up somewhat refreshed. I woke up to my coffee already being made and I already had sweet texts and messages on my FB wall wishing me a wonderful day. I woke up to a caring husband and three amazing kids. I wore a pair of pants today that I could not fit into a few weeks ago :) My kids at school were super sweet to me. I was able to eat lunch with Jeremy today and then I had flowers delivered to my room by my sweet husband. We all got home and ordered some pizza and now I am curled up under my electric blanket watching my favorite show "Bones" and eating some yummy cherry cobbler. Jeremy and I were able to go out Saturday night on a real date, so tonight we stayed in instead of braving the cold .I was able to talk t...

" When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me."  Psalm 56:3-4 I have a confession to make. I have been living in(well, mainly sleeping in) fear the past few weeks. I will not go into all the details, but the week before Christmas Jeremy and I were awakened early one morning to the sound of a woman screaming her head off in our backyard. To our horror it was actually our landlord that was making the women scream! The woman was severally intoxicated but our landlord was dragging her out of the house and into the garage!! The police were called and the event was not as scary as it was perceived from our second story window, but still pretty crazy. Our landlord came and apologised and was sincerely sorry for his actions, but I have not slept good in the apartment since the incident. I am fine until I hear him come home every night and then I start to panic a little. We usually hear him talk...

Monday, January 7, 2013- Happy Birthday Dad!

Image
Sixty-five years ago on January 7, 1948 a son was born to Ivan and Lois Douglas in a small house on the Douglas property. Kelly Paris Douglas would join a family already made up of two boys. One of the brothers was only 11 months old and Kelly and Lowell have been called "the twins" sometimes. The family would later add four more boys and a baby sister to the family. The Douglas clan lived on 160 acres of land that was owned by the Douglas family. It was a small community of farmers and country folk and the Douglas brothers made quite an impact on the area around Grovesprings, MO. I love to hear the stories and wonderful memories my father has of his boyhood. My father learned to be a hard worker and became a man of prayer at an early age. I am not sure how old my dad was, but there was a time in his life that he feared the government would get rid of all the Bibles and he buried a Bible in a plastic bag and an old mason jar so he would always have access to the Word. I had t...
