"And miles to go before I sleep.  And miles to go before I sleep" Robert Frost Stopping by Woods on a Snowing Evening

Do you ever have one of those days or weeks? Today the line from Robert Frost's poem has been running through my head. Monday was a crazy day with all the bad weather. Tuesday Samuel's little earache turned into a full-blown "Mom, my ear is REALLY hurting". He complained at school so I knew it was infected. Samuel is not a complainer and the fear of having to leave school would keep him from complaining to his teacher about his ear hurting. Well I had class Tuesday night and I was not sure when we could get him to a doctor. They could not get him in at his doctor and the walk-in clinic for him is way across town and the wait would be too long for me to get back in time for class. So, I called up my doctor's office because they have a walk-in place that I have gone to several times. They could get him in. So, I leave work an hour early and take Sam to the doctor. The nurse practitioner was one I had had before and I was not happy with her services, but I thought I would give her another chance. She looks in Sam's ears and she says "I am sorry but I cannot see his ear drums because there is wax in the way." This happens every time we go to the doctor. So I know that they will have to get this little blue stick out and moves the wax out of the way to see the ear drum. The lady turns to me and says "I cannot get the wax out of the way. That is another procedure that I cannot do. I also do not think he has any signs of an infection. I will give him some drops to loosen up the wax." Are you kidding me? Oh man, mamma bear let loose the claws! I proceeded to tell her that the drops will not work. We do drops almost every day. He has an infection. I told her to give me the stick and I would do it! She just insisted that it was the wax that was making his ears hurt and that the drops would work. I stormed out of the room while telling Sam that I would take him to a real doctor tomorrow. I got to the van and I did feel a little bit bad about being so hateful to her but not bad enough to drop it. Their office will be getting a formal complaint from me. Sam was up most of the night crying with an earache.  I called Sam's doctor this morning and Jeremy's mom was able to take him in for me. Sure enough he had a terrible ear infection and his eardrum was bulging. He is now on real medicine and is feeling a whole lot better. I am feeling so much better about Samuel and I get to lunch and I go over to see the girls at their table. Their class is still in the lunch room when my class goes to lunch so I always go over to give them a hug. I get over to Emma and I am horrified! Emma is red and splotchy! I get closer and I see that she has some sort of rash all over her face. I lift up her shirt and her back and belly are completely covered with little red bumps. The bumps are on her ears and up into her hair line on her neck. Her teacher said she started looking red right before lunch and asked if I wanted her to have some Benadryl. So we gave her some and they would watch her to see if they got better. When my class went to recess I went to check on her and her teacher said that the spots cleared up right after giving her the medicine. So I start to think about what she could have gotten in to. After school I get the girls and we head to the store for a few things and I notice that the spots are coming back. By the time we get to Gran and Papa's house to get Sam the child is covered in these red spots. They look worse than at lunch and they are now going down her arms all the way to her hands and down her legs. I call the doctor's office to see what I should do. The nurse said I should bring her in to see the doctor. So, myself and all three kids head to the doctor's office all the way on the other side of town. It turns out Emma has some crazy viral infection that causes this rash. So my little drama queen has a valid complaint and has terrible has she looks she is eating up the attention:) She will be staying in tomorrow with Gran. We did not get home until almost 7:00 and I have a million things to do tonight. I have my big project due tomorrow night for class that I need to finish. I know I should be blogging but I had to let some frustration out. One funny story about Chloe and then I better get to work. We went to Target after the doctor to get some cream and more Benadryl and when we were leaving there was a couple of ladies standing in front of our van smoking. I push the buggy up toward the front of the van to open the side door and Chloe gets a whiff of the smoke. In her loudest voice she yells "Ooh GROSS" with her hands over her nose. The women turned to look at Chloe and then looked at me like " I cannot believe you let her say that". I was cracking up!
