Well we have arrived in Chicago and I have to admit we are exhausted! We knew our move would be difficult because we the moving truck we used does not bring the trailer to the side streets of Chicago because they need a place to park the truck, so Jeremy rented a U-Haul and they had to unload the one truck onto the U-Haul and then unload it again at the apartment. Jeremy called a few weeks ago and reserved the U-Haul for Friday morning. He gets a call Thursday night that the truck could not be picked up until 3:00 on Friday and the other company is not open on Saturdays, so we had to get the stuff Friday night. With the help of my dad and brother they got the one truck unloaded, but did not return to the apartment until 8:30 Friday night. Jeremy had to park the truck several blocks away and we made plans to unload it Saturday. My dad and brother came back to help and we had several people from Northwest Church come to help. Our landlord also chipped in to help:) We got everything in the apartment and lets just say I really miss my garage and closet space! I am really trying not to be overwhelmed by all the stuff, but I feel like I am on an episode of Hoarders! We are making progress but still have a long way to go.I did cook my first meal tonight and we finally were able to sit at our table as a family. The kids have been pretty well-behaved and have not been as overwhelmed by all the stuff like I am. I have also been driving all over Chicago and I have been pretty proud of myself. I hate driving, but I have gotten around pretty well. The traffic has been pretty crazy and people in Chicago make their own lanes to drive in. There are also tons of people riding their bikes on the road with the cars and that has been a little nerve-racking at times. Today we finally started our training sessions in preparation for school and it felt good to get back into "teacher mode." It is always hard being the "new girl", but I met some great people today that I will be working with and I am happy about this opportunity. I had a million things I wanted to say, but I cannot think of what I wanted to say:) Here are a fw pictures of the kids getting snuggled into bed tonight. The girls have been so happy to get their stuffed animals back that they are sleeping with ALL of them tonight.
