The weekend started a little rough for us. My sister and her family got here Friday before the kids got out of school (not the rough part;) and we all walked to the kid's school to pick them up. At dismissal Samuel and Emma came out and then I see that Chloe's teacher is bringing Chloe to me and she is holding that dreaded blue piece of paper. Chloe got sent to the office Friday for doing some things that she was not supposed to do and for writing something very ugly on another student's paper. The teacher was awesome and we talked about what had happened. It is just so heartbreaking to see that some of this behavior is showing up again. It is also troubling because her actions on Friday were not just acting up or doing silly things, but it was a direct reflection of her heart (by what she wrote) and that is hard for this momma. It is also difficult for us because we don't know how to punish her. We have learned from last year that punishing her only fuels her anger and she ends up getting in more trouble, but she also needed to be punished. I would ask (again) that you would pray for Chloe. My baby girl needs Jesus and without him she can't change the anger and the attitude. We talked through that issue and tried to enjoy the rest of our weekend. We will not see my sister's family over the holidays, so the kids had a mini-Christmas Friday night.
Saturday was Jeremy's birthday so we had a fun day planned with my whole family, except my dear nephew Kraig could not get off work to come up for the weekend :( . Chloe had a soccer game Saturday morning but it was cold, rainy, and miserable. My sister stayed in the car with the other three kids so they did not get soaked! After the soccer game we drove about an hour to my brother's house and let Jeremy and Chloe dry off and warm up from the game. We left their house and stopped at Chick-Fil-A (YUMMY!) on our way to a pumpkin farm. This place was pretty cool. It had animals, several playgrounds. a giant inflatable slide, a kid haunted house, a corn maze that said "100 Years of Wrigley Field", hay rides, yummy food, and lots of other activities. The kids had so much fun! All of us, except my mom who stayed with the baby, did the corn maze. It was so muddy because of the rain from that morning but it was so much fun. After we left the pumpkin farm we headed back to my brother's and ate some supper and watched the TN game. Watching the game was Jeremy's only request for his birthday :). It was a great day and one of those days that you are just overwhelmed with thankfulness for your family. There are very few days when we are all together like we were on Saturday and I am blessed to have such a wonderful family.
We got back late Saturday night and Jeremy had to pack for his trip this week. He is in Maryland this week for principal stuff. He left yesterday morning before church. I woke up yesterday morning with a terrible headache, but still got everything I needed to get done before church (I plan on writing more about our church plant tomorrow or Wed.). The headache stayed with me all day yesterday even though I rested in the afternoon. I went to bed last night lathered in 5 different oils and a heating pad and ice pack close by. It took a while to fall asleep, but thankfully woke up headache free this morning. Jeremy took his car in the shop on Saturday because he needed new brakes and since he didn't need his car this week, this was the perfect time to get the work done. Our mechanic called Saturday afternoon to say the car was ready :). There was no way Jeremy could pick it up before he left, so this morning after I dropped the kids off at school I parked my car by the school and then walked the half mile to get Jeremy's car. I drove his car home and then walked back to the school to get my vehicle. I then went to Wal-Mart to get a few groceries and I think there is a nap coming before I have to get the kids. I worked so much last week around the apartment that I am going to try and take it easy this week. I hate that Jeremy is out of town, but it will be nice because I won't be making big meals for supper this week. Lots of soup and sandwiches on the menu this week.
