Friday, March 4, 2011- Day 67
It is hard to believe that I will be leaving TOMORROW to go to Guatemala. It seems like I have been planning and talking about this trip but it seemed it would never come. I am excited but I cannot help feel a little sad tonight. There have been several times today that I have thought "what am I doing going on this trip?" Sam and Emma have been a bit sad and not themselves the past two days. They both keep asking about my trip. This morning Emma crawled in bed with me and was just kind of staring off at at wall. I asked her what she was thinking about and she said "I just thinking about your long trip". It makes me sad that my kids are sad about me leaving. I circled the day on the calendar for Sam to see what day I will be back. The truth is that I will be back before you know it! Well, I am not bringing my computer with me on the trip. I am not sure of what Internet I will have and I did not want to have to worry about lugging my computer around. There was a team that went in December and one of the team members kept a blog so I am hoping I can use someone's computer and post a few days. My flight leaves at 9:00 tomorrow morning. We arrive in Miami around 12:30 and then we arrive in Guatemala City at 2:40. It is weird to think about but Guatemala is actually in the same time zone as us. I am thankful that the flight does not seem to be terribly long. We will arrive at our hotel around 8:00. We will be visiting a church work on Sunday and visiting with some local Christians. On Monday we start our day at the orphanage. We will be doing a lot of painting and helping set up a play ground set for the girls. We will be having craft time and play time each day with the girls. It sounds like it is going to be a great opportunity. I am so blessed to have so many who are praying and have supported me on this trip and I am confident that you will all continue to lift me up in prayer while I am away. I am looking forward to sharing all the adventures I will experience next week.
Well, today was Story Book Character Day at school. I wore Chloe's Minnie Mouse ears from Halloween and against his wishes, Sam wore his Thomas the Tank costume. Sam had a complete break down because he thought people were laughing at him. He is so sensitive about what other people say to him. Once he figured out that everyone had a silly outfit on he was fine. Well, I better get going. I am going to try and get some sleep. I have to be at the airport at 6:45 in the morning.
