The last few times I have started to blog I would start giving an update on the kids but would always take an extended break and never get to Emma and Chloe. So, this post is about Emma :). In a little over a month my baby girl Emma will be 8 years old. Emma is one of the smartest and funniest girls I know. She is not as social as Sam and Chloe, so only those who really know her get to see how funny she can be. She loves to read and her mind is always turning. She wants to know about everything and how everything works. If you explain it to her she seems to memorize each step and can recall how to do it months and years later. Last week Jeremy needed to check the oil in the car and she wanted to go with them to see how to do it. She came back in and could explain the whole process to me using the correct terms. We do laugh sometimes because for being so smart this child sometimes lacks common sense. She will do things some times that make us shake our head because it just doesn't make sense. Just this past summer has she started becoming even remotely a girly-girl. She still never wants anything in her hair and she does not like anything with frills of any sort. We (as in me) have to work on being more lady-like when it comes to how she talks and what she laughs at. It seems bathroom humor is her favorite thing to laugh at and talk about, so we have many talks about how a lady talks :). We are also working on tact with our dear Emma. She will tell you if you have a booger in your nose, in front of everybody. She will let you know if your hair, makeup, or outfit look crazy. She will ask you a question about the most awkward part of you at any given time you are with her (just a heads up if you are around her) :).The good news is if she tells you she like something, you can believe that she really likes it.  Her favorite phrase when we ask her something and she doesn't want to do it is, "yeah, not so much." She unfortunately has developed my worrisome nature and she gets really nervous about most things in life. We asked if she wanted to play soccer this year, "I might get hurt," We ask if she wants to ride the pony at the Fall Fest, "I might fall off." We ask if we should go to the park, "It might rain." Her mind goes to the worst case scenario every time we have something going on and like I said, just like her mommy.

She started this school year off a little rough. She has a male teacher this year and her best friend from last year is actually in Chloe's class. Having a male teacher was just so different for her that it was a huge adjustment. On the first day of school I knew that she was not happy when I left her and then I got a call that she got hit in the head with a stick. The assistant principal asked if I wanted to talk to her and as soon as she got on the phone she started crying and I knew it wasn't just the stick incident that was making her so upset :( I was afraid that she would not enjoy school this year, but after a few weeks she has started to get used to the changes and seems to be enjoying school. Emma is a great kid and she tends to stay in the shadows when she is around a crowd of people (even in our house), but for us fortunate ones that see her open up and be herself, she is a true shining star!

Here are a few pictures of Emma from this summer.
