Hear, my son, your father's instruction,
and forsake not your mother's teaching,
Proverbs 1:8
For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification:[b] that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to control his own body[c] in holiness and honor,7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.
I Thessalonians 4:3-4; 7
My son is no longer Baby Sammers. He is no longer a baby, toddler, little boy, but he is growing into a young man. I have already mentioned how much he has grown this past year and it has become clear that his body and emotions are changing and discussions will start to be happening in our household. I had a friend encourage me when my kids were young to not weep when each stage of their life ends, but to enjoy the new stage because each stage offers something different and exciting. I have tried to embrace that advice, but this stage is tricky and well embarrassing for this girl who grew up not talking about these issues. Growing up you did not talk or joke about such things, so much so that if you found yourself having to talk about undergarments we would make sure we cupped our mouth with our hands and whispered "underwear". (I am blushing just writing this post!) Now, Jeremy grew up in a family the complete opposite. Let's just say they didn't mind talking about underwear! Anyway, this year CPS has mandated a sexual health class be taught at all of the schools in the system from Kindergarten-8th grade. The curriculum for the girls age was not too bad, but there were some things being covered that we just do not think they need to be introduced to at their age. Just a side note, Chloe is obsessed with pregnant ladies and babies. She is not allowed to use any electronic device that allows access to the Internet or games because she searches things for pregnancy related games. My prayer is that this obsession ends before she actually finds out how that baby got in there! The 6th grade material was a whole different story and it covered things that we as his parents need to tell him about from a Biblical standpoint.
We opted all three kids out of the program, but we are not naive to think that Samuel has not already heard and experienced how his body is changing and so this week Jeremy has started to have "the talk" with my sweet, baby boy. (I have requested not to know when Samuel "knows" :) )Jeremy and Samuel are reading a book together that is geared to boys 9-11 years old and are having discussions about how his body is changing and how to stay pure. I understand that this post is really different than most of my posts and to be honest I am not sure why I chose to write about this. Maybe just to write out some of my own thoughts or maybe some of you who have gone through this stage or going through it know how to pray for us and Samuel. I have prayed for Samuel his entire life. Even when I did not know he existed, I prayed for him. I have prayed for his safety, his health, his salvation, prayed that he would be kind and serve others, and now I pray that God will protect his purity. I pray that as he continues to grow up that he will sanctify his body to God and stay pure for his future bride. And now the tears flow as I think about a bride! I have been convicted lately about the importance of praying for my kids on a deeper realm when it comes to their spiritual and emotionial well-being. We are still their moral compass. Now is the time to instruct them on how to be adults who love God and want to serve Him with their whole being, their physical body included.
Okay then. Some have asked about how Chloe is doing. She got sick one more time on Friday. We were in the car and had just gotten to school to wait for the other two. Thankfully I had brought the trash can and thankfully she was able to grab the trash can in time. She did get some yuck on her blanket and I was outside the vehicle trying to keep it together. She had to hand me the trash bag so I could throw it away because there was no way I was going to reach down and get it without getting sick. There was still like 15 minutes of school left, but we went inside and I signed S and E out early so we could get back home. We got home and Chloe fell asleep and took a two hour nap. She woke up feeling and looking a little better. She was able to keep down some soup and then fell back asleep a few hours later and slept through the night. She woke up Saturday smiling and wanting to eat. So far nobody else has gotten whatever it was she had and I am praying is stays that way.

Finally got a haircut :)
Another round of snow over night
This is the new thing with her around the house. I love it! ( She only has the Ipad to work on a math assignment.)
Ok. I hope this is not offensive, but these are types of games Chloe has been caught playing on the Ipad! Yes, the bottom game is Elsa pregnant.
One of my better choices for this week. I was wanting to go to Chili's because I was craving their Cajun Chicken Alfredo. To save money and calories I found a copycat recipe and it was delicious! Here is the link: Cajun Chicken Alfredo
