Sweet Life in the City

This is going to be a short post because I am beat. It was a crazy Monday. My kids at school are so off schedule and it shows. Anyway, despite the stress of today I did really well on my diet and not spending any money. We had community group at our house tonight and I did make a dessert. I made a peach cobbler like dessert and I tried to eat only the peaches. I also chose peaches instead of the cheery filling because I would probably still be eating on the cherry dessert, so good choice. I also just finished a 20 minute P90X workout with Jeremy. If you are not sure what P90X is I will tell you, it is the hardest workout I have ever done and I am surprised that I am alive to write this post (maybe a little dramatic), but I am sweating like crazy and I know I am going to be sore in the morning. I also had a small victory today when  I did not have my usual cup of sweet tea. At school the cafeteria staff put out a pitcher of yummy sweet tea every single day for the teachers to drink. The...

I was not sure if I should call this day 1 or day 100, but I have decided that I am going to count down to 1 instead of count to 100. It seems to be motivating to count down instead of up:) So, how did I do today? Pretty good. Sunday's are tough to stick to a diet. We usually go out to eat after church on Sunday's but I made a good choice and I decided to cook lunch. So I saved some calories and some money=success. I did however decide to eat three cookies today=fail. Then Sam, Lucy and myself took a walk in our neighborhood= success. I do realize that I still have several hours to go before I can say that day 100 was a success, but I think I can make it. I have decided that every 10 days I will give more details on how I have done (weight loss, money saved, ect.). I also am going to take a picture every 10 days to see if you can tell if I have made any progress.  I know that with fibromyalgia the idea of losing some weight is going to be tough but I am going to try. Wow what a difference a few days make! We went from 5 inches of snow to 65 degree weather today. It was so nice to see the sun again but the news is talking some more wintery weather some time this coming week, oh brother! The kids and I enjoyed a nice day outside. The kids were able to ride their bikes and I took a little walk up and down our driveway. I am really excited about moving to the city but I think I will miss days like today. The kids playing in our huge yard. The dogs chasing each other in the yard. Enjoying the quietness of the country and enjoying a traffic free road. Well tomorrow we start the launch of the 2nd campus for our church. Last week just the volunteers met to go over everything and have a time of worship and prayer together. Usually when I take a break from blogging I return with not much to report. Well our family has been making some BIG decisions around here. I know most of you that follow me are also my friends on Facebook but I will go ahead and share again. The first decision we made around here is that we got a puppy. Yes, it is a little crazy of us. Having s puppy was so much easier when we did not have kids:) Her name is Lucy and we are still working with her on behaving herself. She is a little wild when the kids are awake but she is so sweet! The last time I wrote I was trying to decide about a trip to Guatemala. Well, that Sunday I went to church I found out that the meeting had been the following Sunday. I almost decided to just forget about it but I really felt like it was something I needed to do. I knew money would be a problem so I decided to ask 150 for $10. I was not expecting the awesome outpouring of people! Within 26 days I had all my pledges met! I will blog more later about the trip...

I guess I cannot use the excuse that I do not have internet to neglect my blog, so I will try to do better at blogging.  We were home again on Tuesday because of the bad weather. Our class missed our field trip but will be making it up sometime in January. My students were so disappointed. They (weather people) were calling for a chance of freezing rain on Wednesday but we had school. Sam's field trip was cancelled but they had their pajama day instead. It was also pajama day for my class and so it was a crazy day back to school. We dismiss an hour early just in case the bad weather hit but it turned out to be just rain. We had a half a day on Thursday but it was Christmas party day so the morning felt like it would never end! I love my kids but the truth is they can get pretty crazy. They are sweet kids and they try to follow the rules but my 9 boys have big personalities and no volume control. They do not do well when our day in not structured.     Well it happened, we have a Snow Day. It has not been entirely bad. I slept in until 8:30 and have been just being lazy since I woke up. I cannot remember the last time I just did nothing. My doctor's office called this morning to say that they were closed so I will have to reschedule (again) to see the doctor. We have our small group on Monday nights and that has been cancelled too, so we are free to do nothing all day long :) That would be nice but I know myself too well to know that I will not be able to just sit around all day. The kids and I went outside for a little while yesterday to play and I got a few pictures. I am hoping they do not ask to go outside today because it is way too cold! I am hoping the snow will melt off and we will be back at school tomorrow. Sam is having a pajama day and watching "The Polar Express". He already has his pj's laid out and he will be so sad if we are home again tomorrow. I would also hate for my class to miss their field ...

  We are having our first snowfall here in TN. It is not much but it is beautiful! I know this sounds weird from a teacher, but I am hoping NOT to have a snow day tomorrow. I know, I know why would I say that! We only have three and a half days this week before Christmas Break and I have so much I need to get done at school. Tomorrow is the only real day I have this week. Tuesday we have a field trip to an assisted living facility where we will be singing carols and passing our cookies. We have a little program planned and we are hopefully going to get to practice it tomorrow. I took off work on Wednesday to go on a field trip with Samuel and then we have Christmas parties Thursday morning and dismiss at 11:00. I am looking forward to having two weeks off of school. We will be home the first week and then we are heading to Illinois on Christmas Day. Jeremy will be flying out to Liberty the day after Christmas to finish his last class (well until he starts his Dr.). The kids and I w...
