I am very familiar with the concept in the Bible about running a race and finishing the race of life and ministry strong. The New Testament is filled with words from Paul about not giving up and persevering through the hard parts in our life so we can look back at our life and know that with God's strength we made it! All of our lives we have been preparing for the race that our family is about to run. Oh, we have been running small races in our life, but our vision for Chicago is the BIG one and all the other races were just part of the training. As the starting line is beginning to approach we were not prepared for the discouragement we would receive from the ones who actually taught us how to run in the first place. We were not prepared for our trainers to tell us we are not ready for the race. I do not want to sound unkind and I know that they love us and are concerned with what is a head of us, but THIS is what we have been preparing for. We know the race is going to be hard. We know that we might fall down over and over again. We know that there are going to be miles on the road that we want to give up. We know that we will need a constent reminder of our training, but we know we are ready.
Once again, I do not share this to make anybody feel bad because I know they have the best intentions, but it has been sitting heavy on my heart the past few weeks and today something was said that just made things a little worse. We are continuing to press forward with our plans to move to Chicago this summer. We realize that the timing is tricky, but we are trusting that every thing will fall into place. I am asking that you would partner with us on praying God's perfect plan for our lives. I would also ask that you would pray that our house would sell in the next few weeks.
I know this post is a little out of character, but I had to express my feelings somewhere and I could not imagine myself starting this conversation with a person:)
Well here is a picture from this week.

Hang in there, Kim! I understand your frustrations!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that people are being so discouraging. Don't let this deter you from doing exactly what God has called you to do! He will provide every step of the way and will bless you and your sweet family for serving Him unashamedly!
