It has been another busy week around our house. We have been getting things packed and ready for all us to be gone this coming week. Jeremy and Sam are heading to Camp Hope tomorrow and the girls and I are staying with my parents and I will be doing some work for my dad, so I have been trying to get every one packed and ready to go. We have also been  dealing with a pest infestation that someone passed onto us :) Yes, all three kids have had lice this week. To protect the the other party I will not give names :) , but I was given a heads up that their child has lice so I started checking the kids daily. I think I caught it in time so it was not too bad, but I have had to make several trips to the laundry mat to get every thing washed. My kids were troopers and I think we got everyone cleared up. On Thursday I finally took Lucy to a vet in Chicago to get her shots and a check-up. We have been back and forth with whether we were going to keep her. It is just a little too much with everyone and a dog in our apartment. We posted an ad on Craigslist and we actually got some interest in her, but I was not feeling right about giving her to someone we did not know. So, I made the decision that we were going to keep her. Hopefully next year we will be in a house :) We took her to our vet in TN over Christmas to get her shots but she was now due for a few more shots. One of the shots she needed was her rabies shot and believe it or not you have to register your dog with the city of Chicago, which cost money. Yeah, crazy right? Well to register her you need a verification number from their rabies shot, so I found a vet close to us and she got all her shots and now my dog is a registered canine of Chicago.

Friday we all slept in until past 9:30! We could not believe the kids slept so long. I do not think all three of them have slept in that long EVER! After we all got up we got out and did a little back to school shopping. The kids got new backpacks and a few school supplies. We do not have the complete school supply list from their school so we did not get too much. We then went looking for a new couch and dining room table. We did not have much luck in finding what we want, so the hunt will continue. Today the kids and I got outside to enjoy this beautiful day. The kids rode their scooters and bikes while I walked back and forth on the road in front of our house.

Well, I have not gotten to read as much as I have wanted in my Unglued book, but I get through a few chapters. The second chapter is titled "I'm Not a Freak-out Woman" and dealt with how we respond to situations and circumstances that we are not in control of. Many things happen throughout our life that we have no control over, so how do we respond when those things happen? There were two things in this chapter that I am focusing on. 1) "I can face things that are out of my control and not act of control." pg.24, (2) "We can't always fix our circumstances, but we can fix our minds on God." pg. 28
The third chapter is entitled "The Prisoners" and it focuses on how we give ourselves labels and we become prisoners to those labels that we have placed on ourselves. This was a encouraging chapter to me and very convicting about how many labels that I have placed on myself that God never intended  for me to wear. The whole chapter was good, but these are the few sentences that really spoke to me,1) "Oh God, chisel me. I don't want to be locked in my hard place forever. I want to be free. I want to be all that YOU have in mind for me to be." 2) " God doesn't allow the unglued moments of our lives to happen so we'll label ourselves and stay stuck. He allows the unglued moments to make us aware of the chiseling that needs to be done. " pg. 36-37
