We usually eat out or order in once a week. Every once in a while we ask the kids where they would like to eat. They think it is neat to pick the place, but I started noticing that we usually ask the kid that we have the best chance of them saying the place that we are wanting to go. The other night I was going to order pizza and I was wanting just a plain pepperoni pizza, so I asked Emma what kind of pizza we should have tonight knowing that she would say pepperoni. She was excited when I asked but her response took me by surprise when she said, "ham and pineapple." Well, of course that is not what I wanted her to say so I was kinda like "um, I don't know, how about something else." Her next response, "chicken and bacon then." Once again, not the answer I was expecting. So after a few more minutes of trying to change her mind I finally said, "Let's get pepperoni." Here response, " Mom, why did you even ask me in the first place?" She was not being unkind she was just stating the facts and I could not help but think about the many times my conversations with God sound just like this one. How many times do I ask Him for guidance or ask Him to speak to me about certain situations and I go to Him like I am going to make Him happy because I asked for His advice and then when I don't get the answer I am wanting I try to talk Him into what I wanted to do all along. How many times has He wanted to say, "Why did you bother asking me in the first place?" I am thankful for the lessons I learn every day from my kids :).

Well today Samuel had his last soccer game for the season. It was super cold my the lake and we about froze, but it was great seeing Sam having a great time. I think the girls are glad the season is over. They were less then happy to watch the games each Saturday. We came home, ate some lunch, and then the girls and I took a nice long nap. Samuel had a birthday party to go to at 4:00 but I could tell he was a little nervous. Friday he came home from school very concerned about some friends that are saying bad words to him during school. He asked them to stop using those words but they just continue to say them when he asks them to stop. I was really proud of him for telling us about this and we e-mailed his teacher about moving his desk away from those boys. Anyway, he knew some of those boys would be at the party. Jeremy walked him over to the party and actually ended up staying there with him. They only stayed an hour and Sam had a good time. The kid with the terrible language was there and Jeremy said the boy was cursing at every one! I think we forget that so many kids live in situations that they are exposed to so much and they do not know any other way to act. Prayers would be appreciated for the kids and families that our kids go to school with each day.
