It was quite a weekend! The kids and I went to Target after school on Friday and when we pulled out of the parking lot we saw a huge cloud of black smoke in the direction on our house. There were firetrucks and ambulances blocking off the road and it was a little scary. We were able to turn down our road because it was not blocked off but we were still unsure of where the fire was but we were sure that whatever was on fire it was bad. We came home and turned the TV on and saw that a strip mall was on fire just down the road from us. The furniture store where we bought our living room furniture was one of the stores that was completely destroyed. The kids were glued to the TV and thought it was crazy that we could see the news chopper from our apartment. There were several stores that were destroyed and the whole thing just made me really sad to think about all the people it was affecting. The kids were so sweet and kept praying for the firefighters as they fought the fire.

On Saturday, Jeremy was gone all day taking more IL tests for his teaching license so it was just the kids and I at home all day. Sunday morning Jeremy woke up not feeling very well and decided to stay home from church. I was still going to go and take the kids but I was a little nervous about the storms coming through. It looked like the storms would not hit until after church so the kids and I went on to church. During church my phone's emergency signal kept going off to warn of bad weather. Church is almost 20 minutes away from us so I got the kids and left church early. We left church and I got about a minute down the road and I knew it was going to be a rough drive home. I really don't care for driving in any weather, but this type of weather was extra stressful for me. The wind was insane, it was hailing, it was a complete downpour, and the roads were starting to flood. There are several underpasses that we drive through on the way home and I am positive that I hadn't let church early I would of been able to pass through because they were flooding so bad. It was also scary because the radio kept announcing tornado warnings and although I knew it was not close to us it was still unnerving to me and the kids. Some of you might know that I am terribly scared of tornadoes. When we lived in TN I dreamed at least once a week about almost getting sucked up by a tornado, so just the word stresses me out. It took us about 45 minutes to get home and I just wanted to cry when we finally made it home. Thankfully none of the dangerous storms came close to any of my family members.

Monday was back to school and get ready for our last full week of school before Thanksgiving break. Monday afternoon I get a email from Chloe's teacher asking me to please sign and return the "Blue Slip" that was sent home on Monday. So yeah, I did not see a blue slip Friday in Chloe's folder. On Friday when I picked her up from school I knew she was acting weird, but she assured me that she had a good day and actually tattled about two boys who got a blue slip that day :( Chloe had torn out the blue slip from her assignment book and threw it away. She then scratched out the note written by her teacher. I saw the scribble but that is not uncommon to see and the teacher did not tell me after school that she had gotten in trouble, so I didn't think much about it. It is very troubling how Chloe is behaving and I ask that you continue to pray for her. The lying and being deceitful is what is so hurtful for us and we are not sure what else to do to make her see the importance of telling the truth.

Emma finally lost one of the crazy baby teeth that have refused to come out and we are hoping the other tooth will become more loose and will come out before the dentist has to pull it out. Samuel has been busy working on a science fair project that thankfully is finished and ready to turn it tomorrow :). Well I guess I better get going. I have some laundry to finish putting away and start to think of what to make for supper. I do have two funny conversations with the kids to share before I go.

On our way to church Sunday, Emma was trying to find the verse that Grandpa marked in her Bible as his favorite verse. I said a few verses that I knew where his favorites but those weren't the ones she was looking for. I knew that one of his favorite was Matthew 6:__ "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God..." but I could not remember the verse number. So Samuel tell me to ask my phone. So I hold my phone and I ask Siri, "What verse in the Bible started with seek ye first the kingdom of God?" The answers gives me a weird answer and Samuel says, "Mom, I don't think she understood the words 'seek ye'. I don't understand them."

On Tuesdays and Thursdays Chloe stays after school for an hour for a reading program. I pick up Sam and Emma and then we come back in an hour to get Chloe. We are waiting in the truck to pick Chloe up and I hear Samuel ask Emma if she has a boyfriend. So I ask Samuel if he has a girlfriend. He gets really quite and then asks, "Is it okay if I say that I do?" Well as any good mother I start asking him 100 questions. He tells me the name of girl that is his "girlfriend" but then goes on to tell me that there are actually two girls that are his girlfriend. Well that starts a completely different conversation. He was telling me that both girls told him this week that they "liked him liked him" and that there are five other girls that also like him but he doesn't like them like that. I mean who can blame them for liking him, he is the cutest boy in class (in my unbiased opinion). Emma then pipes up, "Mom, if I tell you who I like will you promise not to tell dad? " :) It was an interesting conversation but one I don't think I was quite ready for.
