First I am sorry if I confused some by saying that yesterday was the 7th. We had Monday off of school and I totally had the dates wrong :). Second, I also need to clear up a little about my post yesterday because I had several people make reference to it being about our move to Chicago and I had to address it. I love living in Chicago. Yes, it is a different way of life than my TN home, but I wouldn't go back unless the Lord called me back to TN. If all the anxiety was about me living in the city I would of had a complete break down last year :). The trials that I dealt with this year only reinforce the fact that God is working in me and using me to make a change in this city for Him. Thirdly, I guess I gave the impression to some that I have been miserable every minute of the past 7 months, not true. I had a friend mention that she had no idea that I was going through this even after we had spent some time together a few months ago. I have had many happy moments the past few months. My laughs have been genuine. Memories have been made. My songs of praise have been from my heart. I just had a few more bumps in the road this year than normal. Okay, I think I am done with clearing things up. :)
Now on to some happier blogging! I have not given any formal updates on the kids in a while so I thought I would dedicate this blog to writing about Samuel. I will write about the girls in the next two posts. Somehow my baby boy Samuel is not a baby anymore! Oh, I know that he has not been a baby for some time, but it is painfully obvious that he is growing into a young man. I know it is not a super accomplishment to be taller than me, but Samuel is now up to my nose. He has grown so much the past 3-4 months. In fact, at Christmas his cousin, Isabel, was still a little taller than him, but a few weeks ago we were with Isabel and Samuel is now the same height as her. I also noticed a few weeks ago while watching him play with his friends that he is no longer shorter than them. He is really enjoying school this year. He is making good grades and tested well on the state testings for 4th grade. On Monday I met with his teacher and the teacher had only great things to say about Samuel. He always does his best and it helpful to his classmates. The teacher said, "If I had 37 Samuel's in my class I would have the easiest job ever!'. Samuel still has his sweet gentle spirit, even though it waivers quite a bit with his sisters. He loves to draw pictures and write stories. He loves playing Pokemon, his DSI, and the Wii.His room and almost every other room in the house is also scattered with a million Lego creations that he has made. He goes through spurts of liking to read and it has been odd to see that he and I sometimes are reading the same book! Maybe the hardest part of this stage in his life is that he has many more questions about being adopted. The questions some times come at very random times and I wonder how long he has been working up the nerve to ask me. Just yesterday he asks out of nowhere, "Mom, did Chloe and I have the same birth-mom?" This information has been talked about but I don't think we ever specifically said that they have the same birth-mom. I told him that they did and Emma pipes up, "I came from somebody else, but that just makes me special and unique" <3. These questions are a little nerve racking, but I hope he continues to ask them and that God continues to give the right words to say. Although he us not my little guy anymore he still wants to sit on my lap when we are watching a movie or relaxing at home. Whenever we are away from school he wants to be where I am. He wants to sit by me at the supper table or when we go out to eat. He doesn't go for very long without coming up to me and giving me a hug. When we are with my parents my dad likes to remind me that he is not a baby anymore, but as long as he wants to hug on me or just want to be near me, I will take it! The most important thing about Samuel is that he loves Jesus! The spiritual insight of this young man is amazing and convicting many times! He stands up for his faith in class when they are talking about the Greek gods or evolution by writing on assignments that there is only one True God or telling his friends that we did not come from apes but God the Creator. When someone is sick, when we see any accident on the road, when we can't find the keys, when we are stuck in our parking spot because of the ice and snow, he is the first one to vocalize that we need to pray about the situation. I know I might be just a tad bias, but Samuel is one great kid! I am so proud of the young man he is becoming and my prayer is that he will always love and serve Jesus!
