Chloe was fever free most of the day yesterday. She is still coughing really bad, but she is eating again so that is a good sign. I started to have a terrible headache and had a low grade fever, so I thought I might be getting sick. Jeremy brought Emma home from school around 4:00 and she had a 102 fever but no other symptoms. I gave her some medicine and she went to bed. She still is running a fever but doesn't feel bad at all, it's so weird. There are so many students out at school that our school is closed today and tomorrow for the building to get a deep clean and hopefully give time for students to get better.

I am glad that I finally cleared the air about some of the things that are going on so I can get back to blogging. It is hard to jump back in when I have been gone so long, but I am going to try and get you caught up on what we have had going on the last six months.

August- We all went back to school. For the first time in a few years I had my own classroom again. It was so much work getting my classroom together, but I loved every minute of it! I have 26 students and I am being honest when I say this may be the hardest class I have ever taught in terms of so many students that need extra attention. My assistant and myself have accepted the challenge though, and we have seen so much progress in our sweet class. I love each of them so much and I am so proud to see how much they have grown. They keep me on my toes and keep me smiling. Samuel started his last year of elementary school and it has not been easy for me emotionally. Emma and Chloe will start middle school next year!

September- Our baby boy Samuel turned 13! How? It has been so strange to become a parent of a teenager. He is a typical teenager and I have had to work at backing off a little and not be so nosy. He is still aware that I will ask him the hard questions and will keep tabs on his online activity. I treasure those rare moments when he wants to sit with me on the couch or just hangs with me in the kitchen.

October- We celebrated Jeremy's birthday by going to see Les Miserables and it was AMAZING!

November- The first week of November I took a bad fall down our basement stairs. By some miracle I didn't break anything or get seriously injured. I was bruised and sore for weeks (actually I still have some pain in that area that took the biggest hit) and it flipped a switch in my fibromyalgia that has set me back years of doing better. My body hates me every day and throwing it down a flight of stairs really made it bad. It has been a struggle and unfortunately my bad days have outnumbered my good days since the fall. I have seen some improvement the last two weeks, so hopefully more good days will return. Emma turned 11. We hosted Thanksgiving. Most of Jeremy's family came and my parents came for lunch. The kids wanted monkey bread Thanksgiving morning, but I guess the pan was filled to high and it spilled over and caught the oven on fire. FLAMES, were in my oven and my house was filling with smoke and I was freaking out! We turned the oven off and kept the door closed and finally the spill burned off and the fire went out and by some miracle I was able to get the turkey and rest of Thanksgiving dinner made. The end of November we also got some news that would then begin to start the current life drama we have found ourselves in (will share later this week). I mention that because when it comes out you will know what we have been carrying since November 😞.

December- The first week of December the kids and I went to Missouri with my parents to attend the Douglas Christmas get together. We also went to look at houses for my parents. Yes, you are reading that right, my parents are moving to Missouri. That I will leave for another post as I have not wrapped my head around the fact that my home from my birth will no longer be my home 😢. I some how survived the dreaded month of December as a teacher and was ready to have some time off during Christmas break. We had Christmas at my parents (yes, last Christmas at that house) so we did not have to travel very far. We spent New Year's Eve with our closest friends here in the city and we prepared our hearts for whatever 2018 was going to bring.

January- Headed back to school ready to tackle a new semester. The second week of January I celebrated my 40th birthday and I think I might still be in denial. My dearest friend from college flew in and celebrated with me. It was a much needed visit! Friends came Saturday night to celebrate me and then went to a yummy Colombian place Sunday night with our closest friends. In the 40 years the Lord sure has blessed me with amazing people who have shaped me into who I am and continue to shape me into who God wants me to be. I guess that wraps up the highlights of the last six months. We are ending January fighting this flu bug and waiting for God to reveal His plan.

Verses for today: Psalm 141:8-10

But my eyes are toward you, O God, my Lord;
    in you I seek refuge; leave me not defenseless![a]
Keep me from the trap that they have laid for me
    and from the snares of evildoers!
10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets,
    while I pass by safely.
