Our Easter morning started out a little on the stressful side. We were all ready to go to church so I thought I would get some pictures of the kids in front of our house. We took some pictures and then the kids went inside but I was still outside looking at some new blooms that were coming up in our front flower bed. Emma decides to open the front door as wide as she can and out runs Lucy. Lucy is really not a dog that tries to dart out the door every time it is open and I thought is she ever did run out she would run to our vehicle thinking she was going somewhere. Nope, that dog took off down the street. We are 4-5 houses off of a pretty busy road and I was bracing myself for what was about to happen because she was running right towards the busy road. She got to the end of our block and turned the corner. I am running after her in my Easter clothes and yelling like a crazy lady for her to stop. I would get close to her and then she would dart off again. She turned up another street and the chase continued. She got quite a bit a head of me and I was beginning to think I was just going to have to let her go and pray that she came back home because I could not keep chasing her around Chicago! I then see Jeremy turn down the road we are on (he was going the wrong way on a one way street, but oh well) and he was able to drive to the block Lucy was on and get her to jump in our car. Thankfully we were able to get her because my poor Emma was absolutely beside herself for letting her out. We did get tickled after we knew we had Lucy back home because we realized that Lucy stayed on the sidewalk her entire run around the neighborhood.
After the excitement calmed down we finally headed off to church. We joined another church plant in the city for worship Sunday morning. After church we came back home and changed clothes and then headed about an hour south to meet my parents for lunch and give my dad back his car. It is long story why we had his vehicle, but we had to get it back to him. We met at Cracker Barrel for lunch and it was good time seeing them. We then headed to my brother's house to see my new nephew that had been born on Friday. He was sleeping and they have had so much sickness in their house the last few weeks that we were not able to hold him, but I did get a good look at him and he is a doll!
Yesterday we slept in a little bit, but Emma and Chloe had a dentist appointment to get a filling. They did great! I was a little concerned with Emma because of her anxiety about the dentist and I was nervous for Chloe because this was her first filling. I am also starting to think I may need to take out a loan to pay for all this dental work needing to be done! We went last week to take Emma to the orthodontist to start her work. She got fitted for a bottom expander on Friday and we go back tomorrow morning to get it put in. She was originally going to have an expander that could be taken in and out to eat and clean, but Emma is allergic to acrylic and those expanders are made with partial acrylic, so she will be getting a metal expander that cannot be taken in and out. I am actually liking the idea of an appliance that she cannot take out and lose. Our biggest concern for Emma is that she has two extra teeth on the top. One tooth has actually grown down and sits farther back on the roof of her mouth. The other tooth is impacted and is actually upside down. I am taking her next Wednesday to meet with the oral surgeon so we can get those taken care of. After her mouth heals from surgery she will be getting the upper expander and a few braces just on the top teeth.
Today is the only day of spring break that we are doing absolutely nothing. It is supposed to be chilly and rainy today, so I see lots of laying around and being lazy today. Emma has her appointment in the morning and then we are going to the Cubs game! It is supposed to be raining in the morning but hopefully will clear up before the game at 1:00. Thursday the kids and I are heading south to my parents and then we are heading to Camp Hope on Friday for a camp reunion. They are calling for severe storms on Thursday and I would appreciate prayers for a few hours of a storm free window while we travel.
Here are a few pictures from our weekend.
