I cannot imagine having a better weekend! My mom and I and the kids left Friday morning and headed to Michigan for my cousin's bridal shower. We arrived at my Aunt and Uncle's house around 3:30 and visited with them for a few hours. We then headed to my other Aunt's house for supper. It is sad to say, but we had not seen this Aunt since my Paw Paw died almost 8 years ago! My oldest cousin and his family also joined us and I had not seen him since I was in college! It was so wonderful to see them and with all the negative of FB I can honestly say that without FB that visit would have never happened. It was good to share and laugh about old memories and promise to make new memories. My cousin and my aunt were very involved in our lives when we were kids. My cousin Mark was more like a brother to us than a cousin and our aunt was a teenager when my brother was born, so we were with her a lot. As we visited I could not help but think that my Grandma and Grandpa were looking down from Heaven and smiling. It also made me think about that life is way to short to let things in the past keep you from the ones you love. Forgive and go on! You will be glad that you did.
Saturday we attended my cousin's bridal shower and it was wonderful. The girls went with us and my aunt had set up a little tea party just for the girls. After the shower we headed back to my uncle's house and sat and visited. My aunt and uncle's house has many memories for me. We were fortunate to spend a lot of time with our cousins. We spent many holidays at their house and it is full of memories of my childhood. We would go there a lot for Christmas and we were happy because they had a fireplace so we knew Santa would be able to get in to deliver our presence. That house brings back so many good memories! Sunday we went to church and then headed back to Illinois. On the way back we kept seeing a sign for a place called The Chocolate Garden. Well, we had to check it out:) They specialize in making truffles. They were sooo good, but they were also VERY expensive. We just got a few and shared them. On this same exit there was a cider mill, a fruit stand, and another chocolate shop. We stopped at all of them and it was a nice little town. At each shop they had different places to sample the products. Chloe kept getting mad at me because I think she thought it was a buffet not a sample. Every time I would turn away she would reach back for another sample! At one shop we also tried Chocolate Bacon. I have to admit, it was pretty yummy! We also bought some fruit and veggies to even out the chocolate:) We got home around 6:00 and today we are just getting caught up on laundry and sleep.
Today the family who is supposed to move in tomorrow will be coming to the house at 4:00 for a final inspection. Please pray it goes well and that we will have a contract to sign this afternoon. I have really been trying to trust when it comes to our financial situation but it has been a little overwhelming. We have been blessed by staying with my parents, but we do not get paid until the middle of September and we still have bills to pay. A few people who pledged to help us has not sent in their check, even when they said numerous times that they "were putting it in the mail tomorrow." If for some reason this family does not move in our house tomorrow we are in trouble. Please pray with us on this.We are still praying for some services to open up at churches for us to share our burden for Chicago and are still praying for monthly support. As I mentioned before we are not asking for thousands of dollars in monthly support. We just need a little to help. We move into our apartment on Friday and we could not be happier to officially start our ministry in the city.
