So much has happened since the last time I blogged so I will not begin to try to cover all the things that have been going on! I will admit that since my last post the Lord has been changing my heart and attitude in so many ways. We finally finished up school and on my last day I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from my students and their parents. As I listened to their praise and as I read cards expressing their gratitude to me for the care of their children I was overwhelmed with thankfulness that God used me in spite of my rebellion. I left the last day of school content with staying another year if that is what God had planned. My paperwork from TN was just sent off yesterday, so it is not looking like I will get everything transferred over to IL before school starts. Once again, I have been pretty frustrated, but I have been trying to turn it into thnakfulness when those ugly feelings start to well up within me. Chicago Public schools have taken quite a hit the past few months. The city closed 50 schools and laid off close to 1,000 teachers and staff. Last night we found out that they are laying off 1,000 more teachers and staff! We are blessed that our school has been protected from these layoffs. A few days after school was out the kids and I headed south to go to Camp Hope. It was hard for me to believe that Samuel was actually old enough to be a camper! It was great to be at Camp for a week and remember all the great memories of my own childhood. We left camp and headed back to my parents house for a few days. My sister and her family were in town so we spent the 4th of July with them. On Saturday everyone headed to Chicago for the day. We have started doing a cookout every Saturday in our front yard offering free hot dogs or hamburgers to our neighbors. We have made some good connections with several couples on our street and our landlord has really been opening up to Jeremy about how he has wondered away from the Lord. My family came up for the cookout and then we celebrated Chloe's birthday. The past few weeks have been filled with various doctor and dentist appointments and just hanging out at home. Jeremy has been teaching summer school, but the kids and I have been staying up late and sleeping in past 8 every day! We have gone to the park districts pools a few times but have mostly just stayed home. Today we are going to pick up Emma's glasses and then heading downtown to pick up Jeremy and I's race packets. The 1/2 marathon is this Sunday! I have been training, but I would be lying if I said I was not nervous! I am praying that I finish in the time frame :)Well, that is a quick recap of our summer so far. I really am going to try and be better about blogging :)
