"You gain confidence through knowing that I am with you-that you face nothing alone. Anxiety stems from asking the wrong questions: "If such and such happens, can I handle it?" The true question is not whether you and I can cope with whatever happens, but whether you and I together can handle anything that occurs." Jesus Calling - June 29th
Yesterday was pretty discouraging for us. We had quite a blow to the stomach. We found out yesterday that we did not pass the church planting assessment. The problem is that their reasoning did not make a bit of sense. They said that we were not "called to be church planters from God, but we were doing it out of our heritage." "We were just trying to please our parents." Their ending remarks was that we are called to be missionaries that plant churches. WHAT?? Isn't that the same thing?? They also had the nerve to make a recommendation about what I should do about my fibro! Also, they mentioned that since we were going to "Korea Town" that we needed to take some mission classes. (Insert laugh!) I am not sure where "Korea Town" is at, but we are not going there. Also, "Hello," we both have MISSIONS DEGREES!!! Since we are going to a neighborhood where we will be working closely with refugees we are not considered a church planter. I guess the hardest part of this news is the indication that we were not called to do this. Many of you that follow my life or my blog know how we have wrestled with this decision. It is ONLY the call of God on our lives that made us give up all the good things we have going on here in TN to set out on this adventure. Whew, got that out! Please just pray for us, mostly Jeremy. It really was a disappointment. We believe that the bottom line is that they do not want to support a bi-vocational couple. The main guy will be in Chicago in August and wants to meet with Jeremy. He said, "I saw something unique and powerful in you and I want to talk." Whatever that means.
Jeremy let me sleep in this morning and I slept until 9:30:) It is a lot cooler today, but we will continue our laziness today. Yesterday around 6:15 our Realtor called and she thought we were still out of town, so we wanted to show the house. I told her we would be ready in 30 minutes. Somehow, we got the house cleaned in 20 minutes! We were all in our pj's and the dirty dishes from supper where put in the garage:) but the house was clean. We took a drive while the house was shown. They people LOVED the house, but our neighbors were outside acting crazy so they were not happy about that. I not sure if the neighbors are a deal breaker, but I am sure it does not help.
I got an email from the nanny position and they have hired a summer nanny until I can can start. We are supposed to talk today about final arrangements. I am going to take the position. Since yesterday I have gotten 3 more calls about a nanny position. I got a call this morning that 2 doctors wanted to interview me:) They lived a little too far from where we will be living. I am thankful for so many opportunities.
Well, here are a few pictures from our lazy morning.
