Monday, February 11, 2013- Juicing Day 3

Well, my nap yesterday really threw me off and I had a hard time falling asleep last night. Night time is really the hardest to fight the urge to go in the kitchen and eat something, anything! I managed to sip on my water and resist the urge to go into the kitchen. When I woke up this morning I felt pretty good. I did not feel hungry, just a little weird. I am sure it has something to do with my caffeine withdrawal :). My weight loss this morning was another 2 pounds :) We all got ready for school and Jeremy made our breakfast of strawberries, oranges, and a banana. The banana only added a little extra flavoring, not much juice in a banana. I will not lie, it was a struggle today at school for both of us. We are in charge of breakfast duty with our classes and most days we grab a cereal or fruit in the morning. When lunch rolled around we were both pretty hungry. Jeremy said he had to resist the urge to grab a chicken sandwich out of a kid's hand :). I drank my juice and just prayed that the Lord would give me strength to make it through the rest of the day. I think it was more difficult physically because we were burning so much more energy today than we had been the past two days. We have been mostly drinking fruit juices and we knew we needed to start adding some more veggies to our drink to give us some extra energy.

After school we headed to the grocery store to get some more of the fruits we have decided we like the best. I thought it was going to be difficult being the grocery store, but I was not too miserable. Of course we walk in and are greeted by lovely Valentine cakes, cookies, and cupcakes! We walked to the back of the store and they were given out free samples of a delicious smelling spaghetti sauce with bread. The kids had a sample, but my willpower was in full force and I declined a sample even after she asked me twice. We got home and then we tried a new juice recipe that included a few more veggies.

It included spinach, pineapple, strawberries, and a half of cucumber.

It was actually pretty good and I was proud of myself for drinking juice from spinach and cucumbers, two vegetables that I do not like on their own. They (whoever "they" are) say that if you can make it past the third day it gets pretty easy for the rest of the time. It has not been easy these past few days, but it has been rewarding as I not only see some weight loss, but I feel better and I see new habits already starting to form. It takes a great deal of discipline and I think it is just the discipline I need in regards to food.

Well, we do not have school tomorrow so the kids and I are about to watch a movie and just relax for the evening. Here is a picture of my sweet Chloe from this morning. She really is getting so big and it makes me sad that I do not have any more babies!
