It seems that setting my blog to private has caused some problems with some of my family and friends to log on and have access to my blog. My sister's invite sent her to a weird site that was in a different language, my mom could not get logged in, and I have had several others who couldn't access my blog through the invite, so I have decided to switch back to public for the time being. Thank you so much to those that took the extra step and did not have any problems, but part of the reason I blog is to keep family and friends in the loop of our lives and if they cannot read it then it kind of defeats the purpose :).
Before I get far into this blog I want to wish my sister a very Happy Birthday! I was going to spend this blog writing about her and then I remembered that I wrote a blog a few years ago in her honor, so you can read that
here.
Yesterday my parents came up to bring me my new dining room table and chairs and it was like Christmas at our house! The table and chair set we were using is the set that we bought when we were just a family of three, so the set only had four chairs. We did not spend too much on the set and it worked out fine for us in the beginning. Even when the girls came home we usually had one in a high chair or one on our lap, so it was fine. But since nobody has been in a high chair for about 5 years :), we have just made it work by pulling up an old chair that everybody fought over to NOT sit in. Adding an extra chair made the table kind of cramped and we had room on the table for maybe one extra dish. When we had company over I would have to pull out the kids table and chairs, but the last year or so my kids have grown out of the kids table. Our old table and chairs also did not make the move to Chicago in the best of shape. My biggest fear was one night at dinner all four chairs and the table would give way and everyone would be on the ground. It was embarrassing having to worn people not to move too much in the chairs because they might fall apart. Well, last week my parents took a trip to Missouri and my uncle owns a furniture store. My mom sent me a picture of a table with six chairs at a good price. I sent the picture to Jeremy and he said we could get it and Merry Christmas to me. It is really nice and it fits perfectly in our space and with our other furniture. They delivered the furniture and then we went and got lunch and I was reminded of how thankful I am that I live close to my parents.
Well, we have a busy weekend so I am actually going to try to rest for a few hours. Please pray for our thanksgiving meal on Sunday. Pray that those we invited will be able to come and that it will be a great time of fellowship. Also pray for me as I cook for Sunday's lunch. I am a pretty good cook, but I do not think I have ever cooked the turkey on my own. As silly as it sounds, I am praying it turns out yummy and that everything will go smoothly Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon.
