I have been meaning to blog all week, but I forgot how exhausting the first week of school is and I have been wiped out by 7:30 each night. Tonight I have been sitting at my computer trying to decide if I wanted to blog tonight because honestly I had a complete breaking point this afternoon and I could not relive those details again tonight. I might share tomorrow once I have composed myself. It is not one thing that tipped me over the edge it is a whole lot of little and not so little things.

So, trying to keep things a little lighter, I will share some of the good things that have happened this week. Last weekend the kids and I went to TN for our family reunion and as usual we had a wonderful time. It was nice to be with family and spend some time relaxing before school started. There was some drama that took place that started the breakdown that happened today, but for the most part it was a wonderful weekend. We got back to my parents' house Sunday night and then they brought the kids and I back home on Monday. They brought their van and was able to take some of our extra storage stuff back with them so we could have some extra room in the apartment.

Tuesday was the BIG day! School finally started back up for us. I have to admit we were all a bundle of nerves. It turned out we had a good day. It was pretty crazy for me because I forgot how much preschool kids cry when they are away from their momma:) We have 20 students ages 3-5 years old in our morning class. There are 4 boys who barely speak English. On Tuesday we had 5 boys that took turns crying and wanting to be held by me. I have to admit I was glad when 3:45 came around. Wednesday was so much better and the class is full of (mostly) sweet kids:) Some of my boys are trying to teach me a few Spanish words. One little boy kept putting his hands in his head and shaking his head when I would not say the word right. One little boy, who really does not speak English and is 3 years old, finally cam around yesterday and started to play and did not want me to hold him ALL morning. Today he was absent but his mom came by school to let me know he was sick. She asked me if we would be here Monday if the teachers strike. I told her No, but that I would be working at another school helping with childcare. She wanted to know where because, "My son likes you very much!" This is also a HUGE praise because I found out with my position I will be still working in another facility. We really need Jeremy to be working...but we will take what we can. One dad came in every day and just thanks me so much for teaching his child. These remarks help me get through all this other junk that has been happening. It has not all been smooth, though. I am still learning the ropes and I had a child pee on my feet on Wednesday.  The kids are loving school and I am so proud of how Sam is really making an effort to make friends and jump in to this new situation. The kids have Spanish class every day and on Wednesday they learned a new song in Spanish and the teacher asked for a volunteer to come up and sing the song in front of the class. Sam raised his hand and sang the song! I think it could be that he has a little crush on his teacher and that has made him try extra hard to impress:) The faculty and staff at the school are so wonderful and friendly and I am truly thankful for that! The girls are loving school and even Chloe seems to be doing well. She also had a little break down tonight and I think it has been building all week.

Well, I am beat so I think I will head to bed. We are going to try to take the kids to the zoo tomorrow because it is free! I would ask that you would continue to pray, pray, and pray some more for us. These next few days are critical and we really need for the CPS teachers and the Board come to an arrangement.

First day of 3rd Grade and Kindergarten!

My favorite kids in the world! I was so thankful to spend time with my nephews and niece last weekend! We had the Smithmier Olympics if you are wondering why we all have a medal around our neck.
