6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. I Peter 1:6-7

I have to admit this has been a tough week on me emotionally, spiritually, physically, and any other "-lly" word. I am exhausted! We are very optimistic that a deal has been made and we could be back in school by Monday. We continue to pray that a contract will be made by tomorrow and the strike will be called off. I have gone to a CPS school every morning this week and then headed to the YMCA for a second shift. Yesterday we found out that the CPS schools would be offering childcare until 2:30 instead of 12:30 so I was able to work extra hours there and not go to the Y tonight and tomorrow. This is a huge blessing! I woke up yesterday with a headache and sore throat and I was afraid I was coming down with strep. I still feel terrible, but I believe it is just allergies. My throat does not hurt worse and I have been sneezing like crazy today. The kids have been going with me in the morning just to have a break from sitting at home. They have had a lot of fun and got to know kids that go to our school. We only have kids from our school in our room each day. Sam has made good friends with a boy in his class and I am happy that he has had this time to make this connection. I know I mentioned the other day, but the connections we have made with our school family have been amazing and I know would not have happened if this strike did not occur. We are also convinced that we would not have so many people praying for us so diligently if the strike had no happened:) Our prayer is that even after the strike we will keep our prayer warriors. We have been overwhelmed by the support and I cannot put into words the thankfulness I feel for those who have prayed and given.

Well, it is a nice chilly night here in Chicago so I have a pot of chili on the stove and we are looking forward to watching the Bears and Green Bay battle it out tonight. We do not have cable, so thankfully we will still get to watch our favorite football team.

Here are a few pictures of the kids from today.
