Saturday, November 10, 2012- Happy Birthday Emma!
Today I am thankful for my smart, loving, helpful, funny little girl Emma Byul. Today my baby girl is 6 years old and I cannot believe it! I still picture my fuzzy haired little girl that I thought I would never hold in my arms. The waiting for Emma to come home was torture for me. Those who lived through that waiting with me know the struggles we faced trying to get her home and I guess it can be compared to childbirth pains and it is all worth it in the end. Emma is one of the smartest and funniest kids I know. She remembers everything!! (So be careful what you say around her:) The other night she was telling us the differences in the letters from TN and Chicago, such as "A" is for apple ect. She remembered every letter and picture that went with it and she knew the ones in her new school even though they have not covered all the letters yet. You can read a book to her and she can read most of the words by herself the next time. She loves to learn and Spanish is her favorite thing to learn these days. She is also hilarious! She makes silly voices and silly faces that keeps us laughing. She loves slap-stick humor and it is fun to watch a movie with her because she is so expressive. In fact, we are watching America's Funniest Videos tonight for her birthday. She gets so tickled and it makes us all smile. She is my drama queen and I have determined that she does not have a middle setting. She is either happy or sad nothing in between. Thankfully she is on the happy end most of the time. She loves to draw and she is getting into Barbie dolls these days. She has a smile that can melt your heart and she is a joy to have in our family. Emma has an older biological brother that was adopted a few years before she was born. The family would have been notified of a sibling and given the option to adopt her. I do not know the circumstances of why the other family declined, but I am forever grateful that she is my daughter. She is a sweetheart and loves Jesus as well as her family and friends. She prays the sweetest prayers and it brings tears to my eyes to hear her talking or singing praises to our Savior. A few weeks ago when Chloe was having a rough time I heard her say to Chloe on the way home, "Chloe we prayed for you to be good. We even begged you to be good. Why will you not do the right thing?" :)
For her birthday we got her something little for her baby dolls. We walked to the library and she got a few books and a book on CD to listen to at night. I made her favorite meal and we had brownies and ice cream for dessert.

Oh, I am also thankful that I finally found my cherry curtains that go in my kitchen. I had them in my first house in SC and then when we moved to Clarksville they did not fit my windows so I had my mom cut them to fit my new windows. When we moved from our house in Clarksville 7 years ago they were packed away and I had not seen them until today. The window in my kitchen is kind of awkward and we were having trouble finding curtains (that I already owned) to fit the window. I knew I would not of gotten rid of the cherry curtains, but had no idea where they were at. I guess it paid off that I started going through stuff to get rid of or I would not of found them:)
