Woah. I am not sure where this week went. As I write the word "March" I am not quite sure where the month of February went. I guess with all the illness and just living life the month just passed so quickly. This week we had Spirit Week at school, so needless to say it was a pretty exciting (translated stressful) for the kids at school. Monday was crazy hair day and I didn't get any pictures. Mainly because our idea of crazy hair was not really that crazy. Tuesday was Career Day. Sam was a Cubs fan, Emma was a teacher, Chloe was a vet, and I was a Chicago Cubs drink/hot dog vendor 😁. Wednesday was Decades Day. Sam wore jean on jean and a white shirt so he could be several decades. Emma was a hippie, Chloe was emo, and I basically dressed like I did in high school, curly hair and all! It was a little freaky because I basically haven't aged in my face at all. I have quite a bit more grey hair than I did in high school though. Yesterday after school I help with the drama class and one of the 2nd grade boys is taking this class. He goes to my church so he knows me. I came to class and he is really worried when he looks at me because he says, "You have something white all over your hair!" I was like, that's my hair. I am old. He thought I had paint in my hair!It had been a really rough day, so I was a little worried my whole head had turned to grey throughout the day!Yesterday was Mismatch Day and today was Sports/Character Day for most of the school but Dr. Seuss Day for preschool and kindergarten. It was a fun week of seeing our school come together. Wednesday night we had a school fundraiser at a place called Portillo's. It is popular in Chicago and it is so very yummy. I had almost half of my class there with their parents and I was just so proud to see so many of them. Now, they were the ones running a muck in the restaurant, but I loved seeing their sweet faces run by and how excited they got seeing me and Mr. Riggs. I also loved that I was not in charge of them as they ran by 😝. As we changed over our calendar to March we talked in our class about how close we are getting to the end of the school year and how I would be sending them off to kindergarten. My loves all objected and said they couldn't leave me! One of my guys yells out, "But you are my best friend!!" Heart melted.
It has been a busy week and emotionally draining. I am praying that I can get some rest this weekend to help ward off this discouragement that has settled over my heart. We have a busy weekend. We are meeting at 8 in the morning at the high school we plan to send Samuel to have a family interview. Emma wanted to play for the basketball league at school and those games start tomorrow and I am teaching children's church on Sunday. I am praying that in between all those events that I will find some rest. Tomorrow is not an easy day for me. This date always sneaks up on me and I know that I will spend most of the night relieving 14 years ago.
