'Tis the Season...
Your dog who is usually all over you in the morning waiting to go outside looks at you like, "Do you have any idea how cold it is outside?"
The neighborhood is filled with sounds of squealing tires trying to get out of parking spots and prayers go up that you are not the next victim of the ice.
Fashion goes out the window and all you worry about is how warm you are before you leave the house.
Listening to grumbling kids about the amount of layers they have as they leave the house.
Praying you get out of your parking spot.
Taking the long way home because you know the main roads will be cleared.
Praying there is a parking spot in front of your house that you can get in and out easily.
Watching every weather segment praying that the snow on its way moves out of your way.
Rejoicing when the snow totals goes from 6-8 inches down to 2-5 inches :).
Remembering if you can make it through the winter you have it made the rest of the seasons.
Welcome to January in Chicago!
Despite today being the coldest day so far this winter and it being the first day back to school after Christmas break, we got out of the house and to school with no major issues. It felt like -22 degrees this morning (yes, that is a negative sign in front of the 22) and it was hard to wake my babies from their warm and cozy beds. They got up pretty easy and I am praying that they are having a wonderful day at school. We got out yesterday for a few hours and got the kids and Jeremy some snow boots. We got two years out of the kid's boots but they have grown so much even since last winter that they needed new boots. The girls were pretty excited about wearing their new boots this morning :). They really want to play in the snow today after school, but it is just too cold! There is one positive to the extreme cold, one of my main goals this year is to save as much money as possible to go towards a down payment on a home, this cold definitely does not make me want to go out and spend money on anything! Our goal for this year is to be in our own home before 2015 comes to an end. Would you please pray with us as we move toward this goal? It is a big decision and it is not an easy task buying in Chicago, but we know God can make this happen.
Before I finish this blog I have to wish my nephew Giovanni a happy 1st birthday!! He has brought so much joy to our family this year and I know he will continue to bring joy to us all. He is so sweet and I he is one of the best babies ever! I love being Aunt Kimmy to all of my precious nieces and nephews and I am thankful God has placed each precious child in my life.
