I write this post with a very heavy heart and through my tears I ask that you would pray for the family of Bethany Lytle. Word came this morning that she passed away early this morning. This news has shocked and broken most of our Free Will Baptist family. My heart is broken for her husband and the three small children that have been left behind to grieve the loss of this precious lady. I mentioned yesterday that Bethany was a few years younger than Jeremy and I, but we are very good friends with her brother and sister so in the process got to know Bethany. I did not know her as well as others, but I did know her enough to know that she was one of the sweetest girls I have ever met. Her heart for Christ was evident and she had one of the best, biggest smiles. I remember always thinking how contagious her smile was. She and her husband had devoted themselves to serving Christ teaching school in Peru and it is times like this that this broken world just doesn't make any sense. My sadness for this family keeps drifting in anger for this tragic news. There are so many questions as to why God would take this young wife and mother who had dedicated her life to Him. I get angry about the fact that she did not even have a chance to fight this disease, she was only diagnosed last week. I get angry that her precious sister Brooke (who is a missionary in Spain with her husband and family) did not make it in time to say good-bye to her sister. She got the news of her passing while she was boarding her plane to the States. It doesn't make sense that this family who tragically lost their dad just a few years ago are now saying good-bye to their precious daughter and sister.
Life is short and so very fragile. Nobody would have predicted this tragic loss of such an amazing lady. It is a lesson to us all to embrace life to the fullest. Forgive family and friends. Tell the ones in your life that you love them. Hug tight the people in your life. Thank the Lord for each breath and spend each day glorifying the One that gives life.
Please pray for the Atwood and Lytle families. Pray that comfort and strength surrounds them. Pray for those who will ministering to them and helping them process this tragic loss. Pray for Brooke as she is traveling at this moment to join her family. Pray that there is someone on her plane that will show her compassion and comfort during the long flight.
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. I Thessalonians 4:13
