16-18 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, “Your threat means nothing to us. If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king. But even if he doesn’t, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn’t serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.”  Daniel 3:16-18

21-22 “O king, live forever!” said Daniel. “My God sent his angel, who closed the mouths of the lions so that they would not hurt me. I’ve been found innocent before God and also before you, O king. I’ve done nothing to harm you.” Daniel 6:21

I first want to thank you for praying for us this past week. I also want to thank you for all the encouragement that was extended to us. Jeremy got home Friday night and we were happy to have him home! There have been several personal attacks lately and several stories from the Bible have come to mind.  The stories of the fiery furnace and Daniel in the lion's den have always been some of my favorite passages. Their courage and confidence in God's power puts my faith to shame. It reminds me of the days we are living in and how our faith will continued to be put to the test. There are so many around us who see how Jesus has changed us. How Jesus helps us have peace to face the fiery furnace of life. They see how Jesus has blessed us and jealously sets in and they begin acting like children. For some reason I picture the accusers in both of these stories to be very whiny, "But king....you said...."
I have two prayers concerning this situation:
1.) Pray that we will continue to live out our faith despite the persecution.
2.) Pray that God will change the hearts or just like the lions God will shut their mouths.

Chloe had an okay day on Friday and thankfully Samuel's science test is not until tomorrow :). Friday night I took the kids down the street to a local church who was having Trunk or Treat. My kids are so much like me when it comes to new activities! At first they did not want to go and second they did not want to wear their Halloween costumes. Just like me, they don't mind wearing costumes but only on the actual day of Halloween :). They had fun and got a lot of candy and did not want to leave. I also saw a teacher from my school last year and it was nice to talk with her for a few minutes. After Trunk or Treat I took the kids to McDonald's for supper. They had some gift cards from Gran and Papa to use at McDonald's. We then came home and watched 'Annie' and just waited to for daddy to come home. Saturday morning was Chloe's last soccer game for the season. It has been fun, but I am ready to take back our Saturdays (even though I am something else will take it's place!). We got back from the soccer game and the girls started on their homework and I took Samuel to Target to finish using his birthday gift cards. Now don't get me wrong, I love gift cards and I think they are great for kids, but OH MY, it is border line torture shopping with a kid who has cash or a gift card to spend! He picked up 800 things at least twice. I would think he made his choice and he would come toward the buggy and then at the last minute change his mind. He FINALLY chose something and we are almost to the check out and he starts, well...I am not sure... and I refused to let him go back and change. We might still be at Target if I let him go back to the toy aisle! Sunday we had some of our people out of town, so we had a sweet time of prayer. Kids finished their homework and played the rest of the day. We have been working on Samuel and Emma being nicer to Chloe. It is tough because I understand why they do not want to play with someone who is always screaming at them, hitting them, and taking their stuff, but I believe that if they would just love her and TRY to include her it would help with her behavior. They did try this weekend and I am proud of them :).  This morning I had to get groceries and unfortunately also doing some laundry.
Well, here are a few pictures from our weekend! The new picture in my heading was taken at the soccer game Saturday! It was beautiful weekend in Chicago!
