So apparently my definition of resting my arm on Monday was not entirely accurate. There were some things that did not get done around the house because I was of course resting my arm, but Jeremy reminded me that I rested my arm after I went to the grocery store, brought all the groceries inside the apartment, colored my hair, and wrote a blog post :). Oops, I guess I did not do a very good job. I am just having a hard time finding a medium between working myself to death on housework and not feeling like a lazy bum for not doing enough. I feel kind of lazy most days because I call myself a stay-at-home mom, but I guess technically I am a mom who happens to stay at home. I feel like when I take the kids to school I should be getting so much accomplished, but by the time I get home and get the house cleaned and laundry started and everything else it is already time to get the kids picked up from school. I get them home and I don't know if your kids have this super-power, but my kids have the ability to destroy every room in about 7 minutes. I survey the house that I spent most of the day cleaning and it looks like I didn't do a thing. So I try to take some days and just watch TV or pay bills and just relax, but that doesn't work out so well and I usually end up rearranging a room. So, my only guarantee of really resting my arm yesterday was to take the kids to school and go back to bed when I got back home. So, that is what I did. I ended up sleeping a few more hours and then got up and caught up on some of the TV shows that I have missed since the new seasons started. I wore my store-bought brace and I tried to use my right hand as little as possible. It does feel better today, but of course I had to do laundry and get the things done that I missed yesterday :).
Samuel made a 89% on his science test. I am pleased with the grade, but he was a little disappointed because he thought he did better. The teacher has not put the test in the online grade book, so I am not sure how much it raised his grade. Samuel had homework last night in Reading, He was supposed to read two chapters in a book from class and then answer about 20 questions. Samuel comes out of school and one of his friends comes up and offers his book to Samuel because Samuel cannot find his book! I thought it was so sweet of this boy, but I told him he needed it and we would figure something out for Samuel. I looked online to see of I could download the book or find the answers online, nothing. I called Barnes and Nobles to see if they carried the book before I drove the 20 minutes to the store. They did not have the book in their store because it is an older work of literature. We finally found someone reading the chapters we needed on YouTube. It was so crazy and I just kept thinking about how when I was a kid if you lost your book or forgot your homework at school you just got a bad grade. Pretty crazy the access student's have these days. It also made me sad for all those kids who come home to empty houses and no parental help with their homework. I was able to order the book online and will be delivered today if for some reason he cannot find the book at school today. Anyway, it seems it is a daily thing with him trying to find something he lost. We also got tickled this week because remember how I stated Samuel is in a weird time in life, well he has a hint of a mustache and I have pulled two of his teeth this week. Emma and Chloe are having a good week and we are all looking forward to a three day weekend coming up. :)
So my new recipes continue :). So far we have really liked the recipes. I have to tell you that I am not an onion person. If a recipe calls for onions I either use onion flakes or leave the onions out all together. I will pick onions out if I am somewhere that is serving a dish with onions in them. IF, I eat something with onions I need them to be cooked all the way and I must not be able to feel the crunch of them :). Despite my dislike for onions I have started liking onion straws at restaurants and if the restaurant has a hamburger with onion straws that is what I am getting. I guess they are so skinny that I cannot feel the onion while I am chewing. I make hamburgers quite a bit at our house, so I found this recipe for onion straws from the Pioneer Woman and they were delicious! Jeremy was impressed that I actually bought the onion at a grocery store. It was probably only the second time I have bought an onion :).
