I knew this would happen. I took a few days off of blogging and it somehow turned into a whole week. On Friday I ended up having to do laundry and groceries on the same day and my hate fire for the stairs in this apartment were rekindled. I usually do laundry on Monday and Thursday and groceries on Tuesday and Friday, but my routine got off a little bit last week (as in I didn't want to do laundry on Thursday) and with the kids out of school on Monday I knew the schedule would be off a little bit this week. I wish I could explain to you how horrible these stairs all the time, but I cannot begin to describe how treacherous they are when I am carrying groceries up or laundry up and down them. So when I get these "I hate this apartment mood", I try to fix things by getting super organized. I came up with this brilliant idea (can you sense the sarcasm) to go through every single room in the house and get rid of stuff. Then I came up with the idea to start packing things away. When we were about to sell our house we purged and packed things up in anticipation of moving, so I though that might help me. Since Jeremy and I both are not in the classroom this year we had to get a storage unit to keep all of our school stuff. There is extra room in the storage space, so it made perfect sense to start this enormous project :). I worked on the kid's rooms on Saturday after the tack meet and after the soccer game. They had to go through their toys and other items and pick things to give away. This was not an easy task for my children with hoarding tendencies. We worked lat into the night Saturday and just had to close their bedroom doors for church on Sunday because it was still pretty unorganized. Sunday afternoon I finished the kid's rooms. Monday everyone was out of school for Columbus Day so we went to lunch and a movie and I started working on the kitchen. Organizing and cleaning and putting the house back together has occupied most of my time this week. I think I have everything almost back together, It was so much work, but I do feel better with all the clutter out of the house.
Samuel had a track meet Saturday morning. He did awesome! He ran the mile in 8 minutes and 5 seconds. For their school's boy team to qualify for the next meet they needed at least 7 boys to be there. There were only 4 boys that showed up on Saturday so track is over for Samuel this season. I am so proud of him, but no tears were shed that we do not have to got to any more track meets at 7:50 on Saturday mornings! Chloe had to soccer game and did good. She is learning and does improve each game :). Monday we took the kids to see "The Boxtrolls" and to be honest it was gross and I have no desire to see it a second time. The rest of the week for the kids has involved lots of homework and projects and lots of whining and complaining (from the kids too).
Well I better get going. We are getting ready for my sister and her family to come in tomorrow night and then Saturday spending the day with the rest of the family. I do have a few things for you to pray with me about before I go. Chloe had a REALLY rough weekend at home. Taking things and hiding them. Lying and calling names and writing mean things in her notebook about Emma and other things that were typical of her behavior last year. One bizarre incident was that Samuel caught her with a bag of Skittles that she had taken from the kitchen and went he went to tell on her she tried to flush them down the toilet! The whole bag! It got clogged and she had to get it out with her hand. Second, the other day I posted a picture of Samuel with one of his friends. Today is that friend's last day at their school His family is moving. We know that this is the norm in the city. People moving in and out of neighborhoods at the last minute and it's just part of life in the city. This is the first time that this has happened for Samuel and he is pretty bummed about it. I had also just started to form a relationship with the mother and I just pray that another believer will come into their lives as a witness.
Here is a picture of my back stairs. I don't know why I am posting this. Maybe to get some sympathy or something :). But going left to right is the four sets of stair I have to carry my laundry down :(
Here are some pictures from this weekend.
