16" Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
It has been a crazy few days! Friday the kids and I headed back to TN and I have to admit it was kinda hard to head back South. The only thing that made it easy was that I knew I would be seeing Jeremy on Saturday. The kids did great on the way back home! They mostly slept the whole trip and I kept Lucy up front with us so we did not have all that drama again. We got home around 4:00 and although I was soo tired I knew I needed to start putting some things away in case the house needed to be shown the next day. We all go to bed early and then got up Saturday cleaned the house some more and then headed to the airport to pick up Jeremy. We got home and then I headed to the grocery store. After the grocery store Chloe and I got ready and went to a baby shower for one of my college friends. Susan and her husband live in Kansas, but his family is from this area and they were having a baby shower for her. She was my college roommate my senior year and we have been great friends since. She has been married for over 5 years and had struggled with infertility. It broke my heart that she had to go through this, but I am glad that I could offer some words of encouragement to her. She went through soo much and still could not get pregnant. She gave up doing all the medical treatments and praise the Lord her little blessing will be arriving in September! It was great to visit with her and be reminded of God's blessings to us! I plan on going out to visit her after the baby arrives. Chloe got to go with me to the shower because (1) Jeremy had some work to do in the yard and I do not trust her when I am gone:) (2) She had a great week while we were in Illinois. Now, since we have been home, not so much. Jeremy let me sleep in this morning and when I got up Chloe had already been sentenced to her room for the morning:) I also saw one of my 1st graders from this past year on Saturday. It was soo good to hug her neck. I have really been missing my sweet kids! I really wish we had school today so I could see them!! Chloe and I went to Wal-Mart after the shower and I was about to get in my car to leave and I hear someone say, "Hey, I thought you were leaving!" I look up to see one of my student's dad. I told him we were not leaving until July and he said, "Well, I thought maybe you changed your mind." I told him I had already been replaced and he then said the sweetest thing, "Oh Mrs. Riggs, you could really NEVER be replaced." He then told me that his daughter was in the car with her mom. I went over and was able to give her a BIG hug! It made my day! Even though I wish I could hug them all! School here starts in August so I am hoping to get over to school to see them before we officially move.
Yesterday we had an Open House from 2-4. We took the kids to get ice cream and then we went to the park. It was too hot for us to stay long at the park, so we ended up driving around for a while and let the kids sleep. We also had to go pick up my van that had been left at Jeremy's parent's house last week. About 3:15 I headed home and thought I would just wait around the neighborhood until 4:00. I passed our house around 3:30 and nobody was there except the realtor. About 4:00 someone pulled into the driveway to look at the house. So, we know at least one person came! They were a younger couple and I am praying that they will want to buy it! We pulled into our neighbor's driveway and he let us come and wait in his house until they left. We really do have a great neighbor!!
With all the traveling and cleaning and running around, my poor body is really hurting! Yesterday I had a bad headache all day and my back and legs are just aching today. I know that I can just take it easy this week, but that does not really help. The pain will lessen whenever it is ready. There is really not much I can do but stay medicated (which I hate doing!)
Well, I know I have mentioned that I am lacking a few things to get everything transferred from TN to IL to teach, but I did get IL state approval for my paraprofessional certificate which lets me get a job in the school system as a Teacher Assistant or some other support role. New jobs will be posted today so I will hopefully be applying for some. Please pray with me that something will open up for me. That even though I am new to the system that a principal would give me a chance! Unfortunately Jeremy's school does not have any opening!
Here are a few pictures from the weekend.
